Pathogen Detection in Perianal Streptococcal Dermatitis

ArcDia International Ltd is pleased to announce that perianal streptococcal dermatitis has been added as an indication for the use of mariPOC pharyn and Quick StrepA tests for the detection of Group A streptococci (GAS).

GAS is a common cause of pharyngitis especially among children. Furthermore, GAS can cause severe invasive infections and skin infections e.g. in perianal region. Signs and symptoms of perianal GAS infection include perianal dermatitis, itching, rectal pain, constipation and blood-streaked stools. Similar signs and symptoms are caused by, for example, irritant dermatitis, candidiasis and inflammatory bowel disease. Perianal GAS infections in children are often misdiagnosed and treated suboptimally. Untreated perianal GAS infection can persist for months and cause outbreaks in day cares and transmission among family members.

Automated mariPOC test for rapid detection of GAS is easy to use and cost-efficient. The results are reported in just 15 minutes with culture sensitivity.
